June Favorites

I think June went by really fast. It makes me sad that I have less than 2 months of summer break left. This month, I didn't have a lot of favorites so this post will be short.

1. NYX Slim Lip Pencil in "Natural" from Ulta
  • I've been using this a lot this month and I really like it. It's just a great, every day color. I'll make a review on it soon.

2. JĀSÖN Normalizing Tea Tree Shampoo
  • I've been using this shampoo all month. I bought it at the beginning of the month, or maybe the end of May - I can't remember. I can make a review if anyone would like!

3. Dessange Oleo Miracle Replenishing Oil
  • I started using this halfway through the month and it really helps keep my hair soft, even after I wake up the next morning. I'll make a review on this soon.

4. Straws from IKEA
  • I started using these halfway through the month. They aren't like the skinny straws, but not as big as boba straws. I just like drinking out of straws, so I use these every day.

My favorite TV series to watch on Netflix this month was:
  • Bones - This show is about a forensic anthropologist and a FBI agent who work together with their friends to solve murders. I really like this show, even though it's a little scary sometimes. If you can't handle looking at dead bodies though, I wouldn't recommend this show to you, haha.
That's my favorites for the month of June! Let me know down below if you have any favorites.

Lush Review: Mask of Magnaminty

Hello. It's time for another Lush review! I got this as one of my Valentine gifts from my lovely boyfriend. It's one of my favorites from Lush. If you're interested, keep reading.
This is what it looked like when I opened it. I got the 4.4 ounce pot, but they also have a 11.1 ounce pot.

Some things this product contains:
  • peppermint oil (which gives it a minty scent)
  • kaolin (china clay)
  • aduki beans (for flaky or dry skin)
  • honey (to soothe the skin)
Mask of Magnaminty is a face and body cleanser. It says to apply the product on clean skin, but I apply it to my skin before I shower. I apply it all over my face and sometimes on my body wherever I might feel irritated. After 5-10 minutes, I just wash/scrub it off in the shower.

When I apply this to my face, it's cold because I leave it in the fridge, but it feels cool on my skin. I love the tingly feeling I get because of the peppermint oil. I don't break out or have oily skin, but when my face feels irritated, I love using this - I feel like it really does the trick to calm my skin down and just help it feel better and refreshed. (It's like the feeling of using tea tree shampoo, in my opinion.)

Once I run out of this, I'll have to buy more or hope my boyfriend gets it for me again, haha. I definitely recommend this product to anyone!

Seventh Week of Summer

This past week, I didn't really do much. I only have pictures from two days this week, so this will be short.

On June 19th, it was flip flop day for Tropical Smoothie so my boyfriend and I went and to two different ones to get a free smoothie. We brought my younger cousin to the second one and then we went to the mall because I had to get my friend a birthday gift from Lush. We dropped off my cousin and then watched Psych until we went to Panera for dinner. We tried a new salad that night, it was the BBQ chicken one and it was pretty good.

On June 20th, we went to my friend John's and had a gathering with our friends. We got back home in a bad thunderstorm at like 1:30 am. I stepped in a puddle with my leather sandals, but we sang in the car the whole way home. And then we fell asleep, which was nice.

Cook With Me pt. V

I made my last "Cook With Me" post back at the end of November. Like that one, this one may not be as detailed because all these recipes down below are from then. These will all be things I made while I was still in school. Most of these will be breakfast posts btw, haha. So if you're interested in some healthier recipes, keep reading.

On the right, is a breakfast I made. I made it look like a heart so it would be cute, haha. I always play with my food.

I took half a whole grain muffin and toasted it. Then put some almond butter on it. Then cut up some a banana and used dark chocolate chips to decorate it to make a bear. I added some blackberries to eat with it too.

I've done this with regular loaf bread and have made a monkey before too.

Over winter break, I had a game night at my house. My boyfriend and friends wanted cookies, so I made chocolate peanut butter cup cookies.

I followed this recipe here. I can't remember if I tweaked it up a bit or not. This is how my turned out, and everyone seemed to enjoy them.

On the right is a parfait I made to go.

I commuted to school with my friend Christian during my first year, and because we would leave early in the morning, I wouldn't have time to make breakfast because I would be getting ready. So this was something really easy I would make.

I used Trader Joe's greek yogurt, Trader Joe's low fat mixed berry granola, and blueberries.

This could also be a small snack to eat in the middle of the day.

One weekend morning, I made french toast.

I mixed 1 egg and 2 tbsp. of Trader Joe's unsweetened soy milk together.

Then dipped 2 slices of whole wheat toast into it. I then cooked it in a pan until I thought it was ready.

Then I topped it with powdered sugar, sliced strawberries, and some maple syrup.

On Valentine's Day, my boyfriend and I made dinner at home.  He likes alfredo, so we made alfredo pasta.

All you need is:

  • whole wheat spaghetti
  • shrimp
  • grilled zucchinis
  •  alfredo sauce

I remember this morning, lol. I used the new skillet we have at home for the first time and I didn't know there was a metal piece on it that got hot while I was making scrambled eggs, so I burned myself.

I'm sure I've had something like this in a previous post from last summer. But all I did was cook some turkey bacon and scrambled an egg. Then I toasted a slice of ezekiel bread and spread avocado over it.

This breakfast is really plain and easy to make and I really like it.

At some point of my spring semester, I started making quinoa bowls a lot.

I used:

  • Trader Joe's quinoa
  • a chicken tenderloin I would grill
  • some grilled zucchini
  • some cooked spinach
  • a sunny side up egg
  • some siracha

I really like eating this and so did my boyfriend. It's healthy and somewhat easy.

At another point of the spring semester, I made a lot of chia and oats pudding. I've made a post before on chia pudding in a previous "Cook With Me" post.

I add together:

  • 1tbsp of Trader Joe's chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup of Trader Joe's rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup of Trader Joe's unsweetened soy milk
  • 1 tsp of maple syrup

You can use whatever milk you want and honey instead of maple syrup if you want.

I added some blueberries to make it cute, but you can add whatever fruits or toppings you'd like.

An easy lunch I made one was a tuna sandwich.

I took:

  • 2 slices of Trader Joe's sourdough bread
  • some can of tuna
  • some hummus from Trader Joe's
  • spinach

I toasted the bread and then just put everything on. It got me really full, haha.

Well, that's it for this "Cook With Me" post. I hope you enjoyed and were interested in making something from above. Let me know down below if you plan on or make anything and how you like it! Also, comment if there's something you'd want me to make for an upcoming post.

Sixth Week of Summer

On June 11th, I went to the beach with my friend Josephine and then we went to lunch together. (Thank you for being my only friend that reads my blog lol.)

After I got home, I got ready to go out to a birthday dinner for my friend Nhi's 19th birthday. I ate a cronut with my boyfriend as a snack.

We went to Bahama Breeze for dinner and all shared appetizers.

This is what me, my boyfriend, and our friend Ivan got. I always get the same thing lol.

This is what Patrick, Chris, and Nhi got. Sorry it's kinda hard to see.

Here are some photos I took that night. I gave one to Nhi so she could remember that night. It was also my 43 months with my boyfriend.

On June 12th, my boyfriend and I went to Richmond. We made breakfast before we went.

We got stuck in traffic for a while.

This was my ootd for the day.

We went to Carytown Burgers for lunch and it was pretty good.

When we got home that night, we ate some ice-cream.

One June 13th, I went to the beach with my dad and brother. It was so hot that day.

I went in the water for the first time this year, it was too hot out not to.

I brought sushi as a snack.

When I got home, my mom made a Japanese dinner. Curry, korokke, and fried shrimp.

On June 14th, I went to brunch with my mom and her friends. We went to Hair of the Dog Eatery.

Then that night, I went to the beach with my friends Patrick and Ivan.

One June 15th, my boyfriend made our breakfast because I didn't want to get out of bed. Then we ran errands and then hung out with my younger cousins.

On June 16th, I went to the beach with my aunt and cousins.

There were a lot of sandbars far into the ocean, so me and Gabriel went out to it.

On June 17th, I had a dentist appointment. But after, my mom and boyfriend and I went to Aloha for lunch.

Then we got Starbucks. I got a red velvet frappucino. It didn't really taste like red velvet to me. More like chocolate and raspberry.

My book signed by Aziz Ansari came in the mail too! I can't wait to read it. I also got Super Smash for my 3DS.
